Colene (East) Garman

Colene (East) Garman was born in Newton County, Missouri, Oct. 8, 1934, and passed on to Heaven Dec. 14, 2020. There were 87 years and 67 days that Colene brought joy to many, especially her family. Colene’s family moved to Dunn in Texas County, Missouri, in 1942 when Camp Crowder took their family farm. Colene’s parents were Oval Homer Ross East and Theresa Margaret (Spiva) East. Colene and her twin sister, Ylene, were born in 1934 and their sister, Joan, was born in 1938. While Theresa was pregnant with Joan, their father, Oval, died in a train/car accident in 1937. Theresa married Frank Loudenslager in 1938 and they had Linda, born in 1942, and twins, James and Janice, born in 1950. Colene married Don Victor Garman on Aug. 1, 1949. They moved back to Mountain Grove from Kansas City in the early 1960s and operated the T & C Café on the square. They moved to Macomb in 1966, where Don drove a bus for Mansfield Schools for nearly 20 years. Colene worked in the school cafeteria until she retired. Don and Colene had four children, Don Victor, Jr., Donna Kay, David Bruce and Teresa Yvonne. In her spare time, Colene enjoyed travelling, gardening, quilting, crocheting, painting and working word puzzles. Besides her parents, Colene was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on March 18, 1998; and a son, David Bruce Garman, who passed away in an accident in 1976; and her brother, James Loudenslager, in 1983. She is survived by her son, Don Victor Garman, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Shrivenham, England, and their children, Dennis Grisbeck, of Sande, Norway and David Grisbeck, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and their grandchildren, Tyra and Kasper Grisbeck and Thadeus Grisbeck; her daughter, Donna Storie and her husband, James Ted Storie, of Ava; their children, Kimberly Colene and her husband, Jackson Jones, of Ash Grove, and Bradley Aaron Storie, of Ava, and their grandchildren, Abigail and Tyler Jones and Gracie Storie; her daughter, Teresa Yvonne and her husband, Dallas Nicholson, of Norwood; their children, Lucas Gene Nicholson and his wife, Amanda, of Ozark; and Rachel Dawn Nicholson, of Norwood; and their grandchildren, Hunter, Claire, Gabriel and Patience; her sisters, Ylene Green and her husband, Warren, of Kansas City; Joan Bryant of the state of Florida; Linda Detchemendy and her husband, Tom, of the state of Washington; Janice Stauffer and her husband, Danny, of the state of Texas; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
