Cat & Dog winners named at Wedgewood

Congratulations to Championship winners Jody Jarrett, Cabool, and Derrick Shelton, Houston, in the Wedgewood Annual Cat & Dog Tournament held July 31 and Aug. 1. Jody and  Derrick shot a 66. Jackie Smith and Steve Slick, both from Houston, won second place with a score of 66 also. Bev and Carl Hicks, Willow Springs, won third place with a 67. 

A-Flight winners included first place Wendy Williams and “Gibby” Gibbons, Willow Springs, with a score of 71. Donna and Doug Jones, Cabool, scored 72 and Linda Benyo and Owen Duddridge, Willow Springs, also scored a 72. Hole prize winners for straightest drive on hole 1/10 were Roger Tune, Houston and Brenda Dunivin, Ava. CTP on hole 2/11, Lee Smith, Houston, with 16’ 1” and Brenda Dunivin, 15’ 6’. CTP on hole 5/14, Bill Green, Willow Springs, 7’ 10”, and Jody Jarrett, 3’ 9”.  CTP Second Shot on hole 6/15, Zach Grendall, West Plains, 7’ 4” and Michele Myers, Willow Springs,  9’ 4”. CTP hole 7/16, Bill Green 3’ 2” and Jody Jarrett 4’ 7”.  Longest Putt on hole 9/18, Jerry Dennis, Mountain Grove, 12’ 0” and Amber Raney, Mountain Grove, 6’ 7”.  Saturday was a hot, humid but breezy day with a high of 96 and Sunday was a much cooler day in the 80s. We would like to thank all players for participating and making the annual event a success. Thank you to Mary Auen for readying the lunch and providing dessert. Also, a big thank you to Cabool Lease for providing Cardinal tickets for the silent auction.

Ladies Monday League Aug. 2 had an exciting morning when Jackie Smith made a hole-in-one on hole 5. Jackie was using a 5 iron when she made the successful drive. She was playing in a foursome with Alicia Biffle, Donna Jones and Jeanette Hale. A group of volunteers worked early Monday morning transplanting zosiya sod on holes 1 and 4 and the women’s tee on 9. A big thank you to Brent Cain, John Cook, Randy Emery, Jerry Dennis, Gene Gaddis, Gatlin Keeling and Ted Noirfalise. Also a thank you to Cathy (White) Stapp for her donation of a vacuum cleaner for the clubhouse.

Wedgewood members Donna, Doug and Trent Jones and Dusty Rollins enjoyed playing the Keystone Ranch Course during a recent Colorado trip. This mountain valley course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr and winds through lodgepole pines, sage meadows and across a 9-acre lake.
