Brown hits walk-off single to lift Lady Eagles past Lady Pirates

The Hartville Lady Eagles softball team needed a Molly Brown RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to offer the perfect ending to a 13-12 victory over rival Norwood in a contest that featured a combined 28 hits and 15 errors. Hartville trailed early 5-0 before their offense had a six-run second inning to take the lead. They added a five-run fourth inning. They led 12-8 entering Norwood’s final at-bat when the Lady Pirates scored four runs to tie the game.

Brown, who had the winning hit, led the Norwood with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. She also hit a home run. Jenna Kelley tallied two RBIs and two runs scored as she had a homerun as well. Zoey Jordan had three hits with two RBIs and both Shyla Jordan and Centauri Todd scored two runs. Rami Murr, who scored the game-winning run, picked up the win on the mound after tossing seven innings and allowing three earned runs on 13 hits.

Norwood’s offense was led by Rainy Jarrett, who had three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Sierra Cornelison had two RBIs, Catelin Campbell had scored two runs; Hailey Hall scored two runs; Brooke Johnson had three hits; while both Annie Sullivan and Cadence Jarrett had one RBI and one run scored. Jarrett and Johnson also had three hits.

Cassie Chadwell had the loss after tossing seven innings and allowing eight earned runs with three strikeouts.

Hartville also recently picked up a 9-5 win over Laquey after scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Brown had a home run, two RBIs and one run scored while both Allexus Walker and Jordan added one RBI and one run scored. Todd scored two runs.

Murr picked up the win on the mound after tossing seven innings and allowing three earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts.

Last Tuesday, the Lady Eagles fell 8-1 to Ava after their defense made six errors. Todd led the offense with three hits and one run scored. Vaughn had one RBI. Murr picked up the loss after tossing six innings and allowing just one earned run on 10 hits.
