Bonnie Isabelle Buttram, daughter of Joseph Elbert and Della Marie Wall Randolph, was born Sep. 24, 1934, in Abo, and departed this life unexpectedly, on Sep. 25, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, at the age of 86 years and 1 day. Bonnie, at age 15, with the permission of her parents’ and a promise made to finish high school, married the love of her life Wilford Buttram on Jan. 28, 1950 in Lebanon. She kept her promise to graduate high school and was a 1952 Lebanon High School graduate. Bonnie worked for the Mansfield Shoe Factory years ago, but her full time job was raising her daughters and taking care of the home; which she took much pride and joy in doing. She devoted much of her time working at the church and serving. Many people will remember her from the time she spent working at the Hartville Thrift Store.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Beverly Scott and her husband Raymond, of Richland, and Linda Buttram, of Hartville; five grandchildren, Jason Eden and his wife, Melynda; Jeremy Eden and his wife, Kendra; B.J. Smith, Brittney Porch and her husband, Michael; and Braedon Moore; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Tim Eden and Everett and Emery Eden; two brothers, Donald Randolph and his wife, Vicki, and David Randolph and his wife, Helen, all of Mountain View; three sisters, Marieta Gravens and her husband, John Ray, of St. Louis; Patsy Barker, of Cottontown, Tenn.; and Paula Kauffman and her husband, Chuck, of Lebanon; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilford Buttram, on May 12, 2016; three brothers, Jack, Noval and Bobby; and two sisters, Mona and Margaret. Bonnie was raised in the Brownfield, Falcon area, until marrying at age 15 and later settling in Hartville. She was saved at age 9 and remained a faithful follower of God from that day on. Bonnie was a member of the Little Creek Baptist Church at Hartville. She was actively involved in many areas of the church, but there were two she took much joy in serving in. Bonnie loved making chocolate chip cookies for the Team Kids, she was a constant supplier every Wednesday night. It brought her joy to serve the children’s ministry with cookies. Millions of chocolate chip cookies free for all the kids or the “kids at heart” in the community, baked by Bonnie with all joy and love. Bonnie also served funeral dinners, she was always working on seven to eight dishes to take to a dinner and serve to grieving families. She enjoyed getting to do that and show love for her church family. Bonnie was president of WMU, she had a love for serving, helping anyone in need and sharing of God’s many miracles in her life. She was an amazing cook and many of her family’s favorites will be missed, from her sweet potatoes to her chili, most of all her chocolate chip cookies. Bonnie had a bubbly personality, a contagious giggle and a radiant smile, the light of God shined through her every day and she loved to share the love of God with others. Bonnie loved the Lord, her family and her community, she was a loving wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We celebrate her life and will always treasure the memories made. In honor of Bonnie and because she loved us all, for your safety and ours the family requested for those coming to the service to wear a mask or face shield when attending the services. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at Little Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Kelly Kirkpatrick. Music included Alan Jackson’s “How Great Thou Art” and “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You;” Mercyme’s “I Can Only Imagine;” and “He is Here” by the Gaither Vocal Band on DVD. The final resting place was in the Little Vine Cemetery in Niangua. Escorts were Raymond Scott, B.J. Smith, Braedon Moore, Eddie Moore, Michael Porch and Jeremy Eden. Honorary escort was Jason Eden. Holman-Howe Funeral Homes in Hartville was in charge of the arrangements.
