Barbara Jean Baker was born to Leo and Juanita (Mings) Perkins on Jan. 27, 1949, in Mountain Grove, and passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at her home in Mountain Grove. She was 74 years, 2 months and 13 days of age. Barbara grew up in Manes, and attended elementary and middle school at Manes. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1966. Barbara married Dearl Eugene Baker on April 30, 1966, in Upton, and one son, Allen, was born to this union. Barbara loved the Lord and was saved at an early age. She loved attending church and would hardly ever miss a church service. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved her animals and enjoyed taking care of them. Barbara was a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed embroidering and loved to quilt. Countless times she would give her quilts away to anyone she thought might need one!  She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Juanita Perkins; her husband, Dearl Baker; and one brother, Harvey Perkins.  Barbara is survived by one son, Allen Baker and his wife, Taleisa, of Mountain Grove; three grandchildren, Clinton Causey, Kodie Causey and Talon Baker; one great-grandchild, Ryder Croney; one brother, Larry Perkins and his wife, Lejune, of Manes; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will miss her. Graveside Services for Barbara Baker were held Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Manes Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Cannon officiating. Song selections were “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Oh How I Love Jesus.” Memorial contributions may be made to Manes Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
