Barbara Ann Hicks Bledsoe

Barbara Ann Hicks Bledsoe, 79, was born on Jan. 21, 1941 to Eugene and Bert Gilbreth Hicks in San Saba, Texas. She passed away on Dec. 21, 2020 in Willow Springs. Her childhood was spent with her family mainly in the oil rich areas of the Texas Panhandle and West Texas. She graduated from Hagerman, N.M. High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Raymond Bledsoe in 1958 in Sweetwater, Texas. Of this union three sons were born; Todd was born in 1963, Ted in 1970 and Nolan in 1975. Barbara and Raymond made their home in the Vanzant area until their divorce in 1982. In 1987, Barbara became bookkeeper for the Mountain Grove News-Journal until her partial retirement in 2004. She then moved to Ballinger, Texas in 2004 and worked at one of the local churches as a bookkeeper. In 2010, she moved back to Mountain Grove where she retired for good. Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends especially Vonna, Marylinn, Louise, and the late Sunny Christensen. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Hicks, and stepfather, George Middleton. She is survived by her mother Bert Middleton, of Ballinger, Texas; brother, Tom Hicks, of Mountain Grove, and his children, Tommy and Leean; sister, Glenda Rohmfeld and husband, Willie, of Ballinger, Texas and their children Gena and Shelly; three sons, Todd Bledsoe (Sandy), of Cabool; Ted Bledsoe (Venita), of Felton, Del.; and Nolan Bledsoe (Debbie), of Umbarger, Texas. She had two granddaughters, Allie Alcorn, of Mountain Grove, and Shelby Lowman, of Smyrna, Del.: two grandsons, Sayer Bledsoe and Sage Bledsoe, of Wildorado, Texas. She also had two great-grandchildren, Paxton and Emersyn. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
