Arie Vance Wedge Sr.

Arie Vance Wedge Sr., Son of the late Willard Berry and Ruby Jane (Head) Wedge, was born Sep. 19, 1950, in Gary, Ind., and departed this life July 18, 2021, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 70 years, 9 months and 29 days of age. Arie grew up and attended school in Indiana and graduated from Calumet High School. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He moved to Missouri in the mid to late ‘70s and began farming. He raised pigs and cattle for many years. Arie enjoyed shooting pool and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Besides his parents, Arie was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Kenneth Wedge and Harvey Lee Wedge.

Survivors include three children, Arie Wedge Jr., Ruby Woods and husband, Aaron, and Willard Wedge, all of Norwood; four grandchildren, Austin Woods, Ashley Woods, Taylor Wedge and Madison Wedge; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly. Graveside services for Arie Wedge, Sr. were held Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Lone Star Cemetery with John Williams officiating. Song selections were “Don’t Cry Daddy” and “Tuesday’s Gone.” Arie Wedge, Jr., Willard Wedge, Austin Woods, Aaron Woods and Devin McGowen served as pallbearers.
