Aliyah Anne Wedge, “Rootbeer,” was born July 1, 2002, to Harvey and Cristy Wedge, in Springfield. She passed away suddenly Nov. 22, 2020, near Mansfield. She was 18 years, 4 months and 21 days old. Aliyah loved spending time with her family and friends. Her whole world revolved around her nieces and nephews. She was the sparkle to everyone’s life that knew and loved her. She had the most contagious smile and the loudest laugh that filled the whole room with joy. She enjoyed being a CNA and helping all the residents with anything and everything they needed help with. She enjoyed embarrassing everybody, no matter where she was or who was there. Aliyah loved music and dancing to every beat. She meant the world to everyone who loved her and she took a little piece of all the family when she went home to be with Jesus. She will be dearly missed by all.

Aliyah was preceded in death by two maternal grandparents, James and Joyce Johnson; one paternal grandfather, Harvey Lee Wedge; and one uncle, Barry Wedge. She is survived by her parents, Harvey and Cristy Wedge; two sisters, Sami Johnson and Kendra Miller; two brothers, Nolan Johnson and wife, Autumn, and Zach Wedge; six nieces, Keatyn, Aubrie, Brexley, Kinslee, Kaidynce and Kaycelynn Johnson; two nephews, Zeke and Brentley Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends who will miss her greatly. Visitation for Aliyah Wedge was held Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, from 10-11 a.m. at the Norwood High School Gym. Funeral services followed the visitation at 11 a.m., also at the gym, with the Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Song selections were “God Only Knows,” “Sissy’s Song,” “Make You Proud” and ”Amazing Grace.” Joey Gibson, Tyler Saladin, Terry Creed, Nolan Johnson, Zach Wedge, Michael Grumadas and William Grumadas served as pallbearers. Alex Clifford served as honorary pallbearer. Burial was in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
