Akers takes fourth in state archery tournament

Archers from throughout Wright County competed in the 2025 Missouri National Archery in the Schools State Tournament held March 19-22 in Branson.
Mountain Grove
Leading the archers was Mountain Grove freshman Hayden Akers, who earned a fourth place trophy after shooting a 292 in the state 3D tournament.
His score qualifies him for  Nationals, which will be held in Louisville, Ky. May 8-10.
The remaining scores for other state qualifiers included Damien LaFranchise (276), Chayden Wadkins (275), Taylor Garner (274), Kyler Kumpula (273), Maylee Maloney (273), Chloe Slagle (270, Kandi Alessi (251) and Sawyer Kidd (242).
In the state bullseye tournament, Akers shot a 287.
Other state qualifiers and their scores included Garner (278), Kumpula (276), LaFranchise (275), Alessi (272), Kai English (270), Slagle (269), Maloney (265), Slade Rodgers (263), Ashley McGowan (259), Mason Rodgers (254, Wadkins (254), Josiah Schott (238) and Kidd (235).
As for Mountain Grove Middle School in the 3D tournament, Kenzie Oliphant led her squad with a 270 for 35th place. Other state qualifiers and their scores included Jack Tyrrell (269), Remi Lathrom (254), Natalie Atchison (251), Adele English (251), Kullen Kumpula (238), Zion Smith (235) and Emmit Yarger (218).
In the bullseye tournament, Oliphant led the way with a 271. The rest of the scores included Holden Shelton’s 255, Tyrrell (255), Lathrom (249), Kumpula (246), Atchison (245), Jaxon Smith (245), Zion Smith (218) and Braxton Crewse (186).

Norwood
In the state 3D tournament, Norwood’s Taylor Greenfield led her squad with a 283 for the 11th best score. Jacob Brixey was one shot back with a 282.
Norwood’s other state qualifiers and their scores included MacieMae Pridemore (275), Chanse Sanders (273), Cloe Bradshaw (269), Christopher Allen (265), Elizabeth Hinote (252), Conner Jonas (252) and Spencer Perl (237).
As for bullseye, Sanders led Norwood with a 285 while Greenfield shot a 284, Brixey had a 283 and Jonas shot a 280.
Other scores included Pridemore (270), Hinote (267), Perl (240) and Alyssa Allen (235).

Mansfield
In their inaugural season, Mansfield’s archery team was led by senior Colton Wilson, who shot a 269 in the state bullseye tournament. He also shot a 275 in the 3D tournament.

Manes R-V
Manes R-V had several archers shoot in the state bullseye tournament.
Layne O’Neal led the way with a 266. Other scores came from Zeke Miller (248), Zane Altobello (247), Jaxon Ferrebee (247), Levi Boyd (234), Brixton Jacobs (233), Logan Akers (233), Violet Taylor (229), Olivia Akers (225), Braidyn Osborne (201), Jason Snyder (201), Zebidiah Turner (198), Liam Akers (192) and Deaton Nagy (191).
As for the 3D tournament, Levi Boyd and O’Neal both shot a team-leading 253.
Other scores included Jacobs (249), Altobello (246), Osborne (245), Miller (244), Ferrebee (242), Olivia Akers (219), Liam Akers (212), Jason Snyder (210) and Nagy (208).

Skyline R-II
As for Skyline R-II Chase Cauthron (243) and Railynn Dixon (217) both competed in the 3D tournament.
In the bullseye tournament, Paige Jonas shot a 244. Meanwhile Cauthron had a 242 and Dixon shot a 239.
