Manes celebrates Johnny Appleseed Day

Manes R-V students work on an activity for Johnny Appleseed Day.

During the last week of September, the Kindergarten, first grade and second grade students at Manes R-V School celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day with fun, apple-themed activities.
The celebration kicked off with students learning about the life and legacy of Johnny Appleseed and his contributions to agriculture and his love for nature.
Classrooms were transformed into apple wonderlands, with stations set up for apple tasting, apple themed crafts and games, and constructing paper hats shaped like a pot.
Early in the day the students worked together to cut up apples.
The apples cooked in a crock pot throughout the day.
As the sweet smell of apples and cinnamon filled the school, the students learned about the life cycle of an apple tree, the nutritional benefits of apples and practiced math skills by counting apples and graphing their favorite type of apples.
The celebration concluded with a picnic in the classroom with the students enjoying their homemade applesauce.
Thank you to the Manes R-V School District classroom teachers, Mrs. Lumb, Mrs. Linden and Mrs. Buttram for making the day a fun, memorable experience for their students.
