Wanda Kay Myers

Wanda Kay Myers

Wanda Kay Myers, daughter of Claude Baker and Ruby (Skaggs) Baker, was born Jan. 24, 1950, in Huggins, and departed this life Sep. 4, 2025, at her home in Grovespring, at the age of 75 years. Wanda grew up in a big house hold being one of ten children. She was raised in the Ben Davis, Plato area, where she attended Plato schools until she married Clifford Barnes on April 2, 1966, and to this union were three children; Tenna, Eugene and Daniel. Wanda was united in marriage to Robert Myers on May 21, 2016. Together they shared just over nine wonderful years of love and laughter side by side. Wanda was a servant of the Lord and spent her whole life taking care of others. As a single mother of three, she worked two jobs to make ends meet. Wanda took in her niece and nephew, Michelle and James, and treated them as her own--in fact many of the kids in the neighborhood called her “Mom.” In her life’s work in caring for patients, she loved to provide comfort in addition to the physical care. The patients felt her love whether in the State Hospital, the nursing homes, Mercy Hospital, or the many patients she attended in their own homes. Wanda continued that same care at home by raising grandchildren Justin and Peyton in her home right up till her time to meet the Lord. Truly, Wanda had a servant heart for the Lord. Wanda is survived by her husband, Robert Myers; two children, Eugene Lee Barnes and Tenna Ann Barnes; four grandchildren, Ian Bernstein, Kristenna Davis, Justin Connors and Peyton Connors; three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Karalee and Kennedee Davis; five step children; nine step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; one niece, Michelle Brown, and one nephew, James Landers; two brothers, Ronnie Baker and his wife, Teresa, and Ralph Baker and his wife, Diane; two sisters, Linda Pearce and Phyllis Coffman; other relatives and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clifford Barnes; one son, Daniel Eric Barnes; three brothers, Raymond, Dearl and Delbert Baker; two sisters, Maxine Hutsell and Mary Crewse. Wanda will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her, until we meet again.
