Ruby Lucille Strunk

Ruby Lucille Strunk

Ruby Lucille Strunk, daughter of the late Floyd and Willa (Denton) Baney, was born July 26, 1935, in Dunn. She departed this life on Jan. 21, 2025, in Mountain Grove, at the age of 89. Ruby grew up on a farm in the Mountain Grove area and walked several miles to school every day. Early in life, she worked at Midway Café as a waitress. Ruby was united in marriage to Ova Kenneth “Dink” Strunk on Dec. 14, 1955, in Mountain Grove. They moved to Buffalo, Iowa, where she was a housewife, raising her children and being active in the General Baptist Church, where she was saved and baptized. After Dink passed in 1974, Ruby moved back to Mountain Grove. She worked for the Brown Shoe Company in both Mountain Grove and Cabool until they closed. She then worked for several years at the News-Journal until retirement. Ruby enjoyed retirement. She loved sharing special moments with her grandson, Douglass Strunk, and great-granddaughter, Hunter Strunk. They spent time going to the library, reading lots of books, and eating cashew chicken and McDoubles while making lots of memories and sharing laughs together. Ruby always had beautiful flowers and loved to clean her house. There was hardly every anything out of place.
Besides her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Strunk; one daughter, Judy Huseman; one step-son, Ova Lee Strunk; one brother, Willard Baney; one sister, Berniece Duke; and one grandson, Ronnie Strunk. Ruby is survived by three sons, Donald, James (Pam), and Dana (Jamie); one daughter, Jan (Nathan); 12 grandchildren, Greg Huseman, Brian Huseman, Erica Davis, Donnie Ray Strunk, Shane Strunk (Lisa), Luke Strunk, Rusty Strunk (DeeJay), Amanda Dowden (Barry), Brittany Strunk, Brandie Strunk, Aaron Strunk and Douglass Strunk; and 30 great-grandchildren. Ruby’s children were her world. She loved every moment spent with them. She will be missed dearly by many relatives and friends who truly knew her. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove. Online condolences: www.craighurttfuneralhome.com.
