Mary Jo Sellars

Mary Jo Sellars

Mary Jo Sellars was born Aug. 12, 1948, in Kansas City, and passed away on Dec. 25, 2024, in Clinton, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 76 years, 4 months and 13 days of age. Mary was a member of Straight up Ministries in Deepwater, where she loved helping by passing out food to her church family and was a preacher. Mary was loved by all that met her, because of the way she took care of others. Remembering a time that she walked in the rain across town to get access to her car, to get her daughter from Kansas City, this was the kind of person she was. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; two brothers; two sisters; four brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. Mary leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Nolan Sellars; four children, Calvin Mings and wife, Susan, Kevin Mings, Tammy Moss, and Jody Carpenter and husband, Sean; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; as well as three sisters, Carolyn Newberry, Sue Browning and Jeanie Edwards. Mary will be missed by many other family and friends. Funeral services for Mary Jo Sellars were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, in the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home with Pastor Judy Talbert officiating. Special songs were “Look For Me At Jesus Feet,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.” "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" and “In The Garden.” Sean Carpenter, Ethan Carpenter, Bobbi Jo Douglas, John Leggiero, Daniel Talbert and Thomas Volner served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Denlow Cemetery, Douglas County, Missouri, under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove. Online Condolences: www.craighurttfuneralhome.com.
