Libby “Colleen” (Bolen) Curtis

Libby “Colleen” (Bolen) Curtis, daughter of the late Herschel Lee and Bonnie Lorraine (Orick) Bolen, was born Aug. 13, 1949, in St. Louis. She passed away at her residence in Mansfield, on Dec. 4, 2025, at the age of 76.  Colleen lived in several places as a child and was living in the state of Maryland when she graduated from high school. She united in marriage to Byron “Junior” Curtis on Jan. 29, 1972, at the Norwood Baptist Church in Norwood. This union was blessed with two sons. Colleen worked a few years at the shoe factory in Mansfield and at Wal-Mart in Mountain Grove, but always said that her true calling was being a homemaker and a mother. Being the best mother to her boys was very important to her. She was also a seamstress and would do some sewing for people. Colleen loved sewing, traveling, and shopping. Colleen was a very godly woman, and she loved the Lord dearly. Her advice to everyone was, “Do what God says.” Colleen had attended the Countryside Church of the Nazarene in Norwood for several years.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Bonnie Bolen, and one son, Byron “BJ” Curtis. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Junior Curtis, of the home in Mansfield; one son, Herschel Lee Curtis, of Mansfield; one brother, Johnny Lee Bolen and wife, Charla, of Fort Smith, Ark.; two sisters, Sue Hobbs and husband, Joe, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Nancy Hudson and husband, Preston, of Fort Smith Ark.; two grandsons, Jack and Luke Curtis; and other family and friends that will miss her very much. Visitation for Colleen Curtis was held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial was in the Retherford Cemetery at Norwood, Missouri, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove.
