George “Lewis” Boykin
George “Lewis” Boykin, son of the late John Louis and Thelma (Mayberry) Boykin, was born Jan. 29, 1949, in Graff, and departed this life on Friday, May 24, 2024, at his home in Cabool. He was 75 years, 3 months and 26 days of age. Lewis grew up in Missouri and graduated from Mountain Grove High School. He was united in marriage to Sue Mahurin, and two sons were born to this union. On June 15, 1991, Lewis and Lois (Gleason) Boykin were united in marriage and made their home at their current resident for 35 years. Lewis was a mechanic, truck driver, and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions, in Willow Springs. He liked to fish with his brothers Junior and Phillip. He liked visiting with all his friends, telling jokes and lending a helping hand when someone was in need. He enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. He knew the bible well. He loved listening to his country music albums and watching western movies, as well as hosting family and friends at his home or going to favorite camping places. Lewis was a loving caring and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He truly enjoyed spending time with family, especially being a PaPa, to his four grandchildren. Nicholas, Lacy, Kyle and John.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Junior Boykin. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Boykin of their home; two sons, Michael and Sandy (Smith) Boykin, of Norwood, and Mark Boykin, of Sparta; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Megan Boykin, of Nixa; Lacy and Shannon Holt, of Sparta; Kyle and Monica (Lovan) Sanders, of Willow Springs; and John and Heather Boykin, of West Plains; seven great grandchildren; brother, Phillip, and Judy Boykin ,of Mountain Grove; and sister-in-law, Celah Boykin, of Mountain Grove,. Lewis was loved by all who had the pleasure to meet him and will be truly missed. Graveside Service for George Lewis Boykin was held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery, Mountain Grove, with Bro. Darrian Boykin officiating.
