Fred “Sonny” Morris, Jr.

Fred “Sonny” Morris, Jr. was born Oct.3, 1937, in Mountain Home, Ark., to Fred A. and Mary Ann (Dyer) Morris Sr. He passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, in Mountain Grove, at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 15 days. Sonny was once the owner of Morris Motor Company in Mountain Grove. His father had started the business in 1941 and was later acquired by Sonny in 1970.
Later, in the mid 80s, Sonny sold the business, but he continued selling cars until his retirement.  Sonny loved to play jokes with his grandchildren. His grandkids would call him “Cow” because he was known to always “moo” at them. He always enjoyed traveling, especially to Cancun, Mexico. However, his number one hobby was playing golf! He could usually be found playing a round on a nearby course with his fellow golfers.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shilah Ann (Robertson) Morris; grandson, Casey Morris; sister, Mary Ann Morris Chasteen and her husband, Ray; brother, Bill Morris; and nephew, James B. Dooms. He is survived by his sons, Mark Morris (Loretta), of Mountain Grove, and Tony Morris, of Springfield; daughters, Cherol Packard, of Mountain Grove, and Jennifer Staudt (Tom), of Kimberling City; grandchildren, Cory Morris (Lissette), Stephanie Breault (Rob), Megan Herron (Josh), Shaun Morris, Chad Morris, Adam Shores and Phillip Shores (Channing); great-grandchildren, Natellie Morris, Eva Morris, Kinsleigh Breault, Leighton Breault, Ruxin Breault, Hailey Herron, Noah Herron, Landon Herron, Ella Herron, Tinsley Morris, Judah Morris, Lauren Berrones (Ramon), Alyssa Shores and Hailey Shores; great-great-grandchildren, Elias Berrones and Vienna Berrones; sisters, Connie Dooms (Dean) and Jackie Morris; sister-in-law, Karla Morris; nephews, John Chasteen (Becky), Bob Chasteen and Matt Morris; nieces, Angela Dooms and Lacy Cameron (Mike); numerous other nephews, nieces, other loving family and friends.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, from 9-10 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, with Pastor Nathan Goad officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Shores, Phillip Shores, Cory Morris, Shaun Morris, Chad Morris and Jeremy Raney.
