Elbridge “Junior” Carter
Elbridge “Junior” Carter, son of the late Elbridge Howard and Wilma Marie (Long) Carter, was born April 17, 1941, in Mountain Grove. He passed away on August 16, 2025, at his home in Mountain Grove at the age of 84. Junior grew up in Mountain Grove. He worked as a carpenter building and remodeling homes. He was a great craftsman and enjoyed wood working. He also liked hunting and fishing. He was united in marriage to Peggy Joan (Moore) Sanders on Feb.14, 2014.
Besides his parents, Junior was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Larry Stigall; two sisters, Dorlis Bee Turner and Doris Reed; one brother-in-law, Gene Reed; and one sister-in-law, Gail Carter. Junior is survived by his loving wife, Joan Carter; three daughters, Kim Liska and husband, Jim, of Mountain Grove; Pam Klarenbeek and husband, Alan, of Luverne, Minn.; and Lisa Pennington and husband, Ralph, of Rolla; best friends, Phil and Judy Boykin; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Gene Carter; one sister, Betty Watson and husband, Charles; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly. Graveside services for Junior Carter were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, in the Mountain Valley Cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Roy officiating. Special songs were “I Want To Stroll Over Heaven” and “Sweet By And By.” Burial was in the Mountain Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove.
