Doris Lorene Crewse
Doris Lorene Crewse was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Bendavis, to Walter E. and Alma E. (Curtner) Shelley, the fifth of 16 children. She passed away Sep. 12, 2024, at Hartville Care Center, Hartville, at 92 years, 10 months and 5 days of age. Lorene married William Franklin Crewse on April 11, 1951. One son and one daughter were born to this union. She enjoyed working in her home and on the farm, especially in her yard with the flowers. She always stayed busy and always found work around the house to do including her last big task of painting the garage, the peak and all, at the young age of 83. She was highly spirited, spoke her mind, and most importantly, loved the Lord.
Besides her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Crewse, and 14 brothers and sisters, two as infants. Lorene is survived by one son, Donnie Crewse, and his wife, Connie, and one daughter, Doris Tooley, all of Graff; two sisters, Clara and Patsy; four grandsons; one granddaughter; many great-grandchildren; and many other loved ones who will miss her dearly. Graveside services for Doris Crewse were held Tuesday, Sep. 17, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Union Chapel Cemetery, Graff, Missouri. Song selections were “Glad Reunion Day” and “The Lighthouse.” Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
