Doris Juanita (Hutsell) Allen
Doris Juanita (Hutsell) Allen was born on Oct. 13,1939 in Wright County, Missouri to the late Donald Ceril Hutsell and Margaret Lovel (Boykin) Hutsell and passed from this life Dec. 10, 2024. She was 85 years, 1 month, 27 days of age. On March 29, 1957, Doris married Bobby Lee Allen in Wright County, Missouri. Three children were born to this union: Steve, Scotty and Sherri. Doris worked for the Brown Shoe Company in Mountain Grove and Arlee Home Fashions in Mountain Grove until her retirement in 2001. Doris’s hobbies included quilting and studying genealogy. She enjoyed riding around with Bob and going to cemeteries and attending The Manes Music Makers.
Besides her parents Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; one brother, Rex Hutsell; and one son, Scotty Ray Allen. She is survived by one son, Steve Allen and his wife, Diane, of Mountain Grove; one daughter, Sherri (Allen) Ratterree and her husband, Ed, of Cabool; two sisters, Donna Jean Franklin and her husband, Bob, of Washington state, and Patsy Smart, of Oregon; one brother, John Francis Hutsell, and his wife, Jean, of Washington state; grandchildren, Jenny Lawler and her husband, Kevin; Alonda Jones and her husband, Lance; John Elliott; Rennette Barnard and her husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Josey and Jane Lawler, Katie Tinsley, Kiara Hurt and her husband Owen, Reina Tinsley, Lacy, Blayne, Kylee, Chase and Azlyn Elliott; and great-great grandchildren, Remington, Claire and Porter; and many other relatives, neighbors and friends. Joint funeral services for Bobby and Doris Allen were held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, with Pastor Lance Jones officiating. Song selections were “Amazing Grace,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder.” Jake Crewse, Tim Cantrell, Keith Murr, Victor Allen, Terry Allen and Clay Freeman served as pallbearers. Kevin Lawler and Josey Lawler served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery, Graff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bob and Doris Allen’s honor to either the Wright County Historical Society, the American Legion Post No. 30, or Union Chapel Cemetery.
