Donald Earl Rogers

Donald Earl Rogers was born on Nov. 14, 1942, in Manes, to Henry Claude and Surilda A. (Baty) Rogers. Donald passed away peacefully at his home in Hartville on March 24, 2025. For several years, Donald owned a gas station in Lebanon and also worked for a telephone company and helped to put the lines in for Manes. Donald had a variety of other jobs, but his favorite career was as a logger. He had a contract working in the Mark Twain National Forest. He loved the time he spent out in the fresh air and even though the job was dangerous he knew exactly how to safely handle any tree. In his spare time, Donald loved spending time with his kids and being out in nature. If you could combine family and outdoors those were some of the best times, especially when fishing and hunting.
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Allen Rogers; three brothers, Joe Rogers, Ralph Rogers and Lonnie Rogers; two sisters, Barbara Ann Baty and Juanita Willhite. He is survived by two sons, Howard Rogers, and wife, Marsha, of Osceola, and Donald Wayne Rogers, of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Ruby Busch, of Lebanon, and Carolyn Shoemaker, and husband, Hugh, of Mendenhall, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Rita Kelley, of Hartville, and Patsy Moore, of Hartville; grandson, Mark Rogers and his wife, Abigail Brengle, of Hartville; as well as many more grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends that will miss him. A visitation was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Green Mountain General Baptist Church of Mountain Grove, with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. and the Rev. Mark Schwertfeger officiated. Special songs were “Go Rest High On That Mountain,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone).” Serving as pallbearers were David Baty, Bryan Rogers, Mark Rogers, Jason Wood, Chris Willhite and Hugh Shoemaker. Burial followed the service at Green Mountain Cemetery, Mountain Grove. The family has requested that donations be made in his memory to Green Mountain Cemetery c/o Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
