Brenda Kinney

Brenda Kinney, 76, of Jefferson City passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 at The Arbors at Westbrook Terrace. She was born Oct. 5, 1949 in Vanzant to the late Claude and Vera May (Wheat) Lovan. Brenda grew up in Vanzant and was a graduate of Mountain Grove High School. In her parents’ home on Sep. 9, 1969, Brenda married Robert Kinney. They moved to St. Joseph, where Brenda became employed at City Hall.  Working in the payroll department, she was named their very first Employee of the Month. Brenda and Bob then relocated to Jefferson City with Brenda working at Memorial Hospital, again being named their first Employee of the Month. After working over 20 years for the Missouri State Medical Association, Brenda retired as Financial Manager. She had a green thumb and loved growing several vegetable and flower gardens around her home. Brenda and Bob enjoyed traveling, especially on their Fall trips to Colorado. If Brenda wasn’t spending time with her family, you might have found her reading, baking or crocheting her special baby blankets.
Survivors include her husband, Bob, of Jefferson City; daughter, Melody (Jeff) Vineyard, of Liberty; granddaughter, Gabby; three sisters, Wanda (Ronnie) Watkins, of Dora; Evelyn (JT) Thornton, of Dora; and Carmen McCarty, of Mountain Grove; two brothers, Stan (Judy) Lovan, of Ava; Brant Lovan, of Caulfield; and several nieces and nephews.
