Betty Jo Jarrett

Betty Jo Jarrett, daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Burdick) Mitchell, was born June 20, 1958, in Norwood, Missouri. She departed this life on Oct. 7, 2024, in Cabool, at the age of 66. Betty grew up on the family farm near Hartville and attended school in Mountain Grove. She began working for the Brown Shoe Company. When the factory shut down she went to cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. She later started working at Autumn Oaks Caring Center and became a CNA and then Med Tech. She was very good at her job and truly cared for her patients. Betty was married to Gary Thornhill and two sons, Ronnie and Bradley, were born to this union. Later in life, Betty was united in marriage to Theodore Jarrett on Sep. 11, 2004. She was a very caring and compassionate soul who put others first in her life. She loved gardening and caring for her many animals on the farm. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Thornhill; two brothers, Leon and Tommy Mitchell; and one nephew, Casey Morris.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ted; one son, Bradley Thornhill; several grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Darla Mitchell; a niece, Jolena Mitchell; nephews, Jacob Mitchell and Cory Morris; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Memorial services for Betty Jo Jarrett will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, in the Countryside Church of the Nazarene, Norwood. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Caudle Cemetery of Norwood. Arrangements are under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove.
