Bertha Pearl (Skaggs) Hutsell

Bertha Pearl (Skaggs) Hutsell
Bertha Pearl (Skaggs) Hutsell, of Mountain Grove, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on July 8, 2024. She was born Sep. 14, 1936, in Ben Davis, the daughter of Lewis and Zina (Curtner) Skaggs. She was 87 years, 9 months and 24 days of age. On March 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Emmitt Hutsell. They were blessed with 67 ½ years together. Her primary focus was homemaking, mother, and grandmother, although she occasionally worked outside the home at various occupations and had her own house cleaning business. Bertha loved the Lord and served beside Emmitt as a pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher and was a prayer warrior. She loved sharing Jesus and was known for her ability to touch heaven and ministering to family, friends and sometimes to strangers. Bertha loved raising flowers in her yard and working alongside Emmitt with gardening and canning their home grown produce. She loved spending time with her husband, family and grandchildren. She often said each grandchild and great-grandchild held their own special place in her heart.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four sisters, Dorothy Skaggs, Viola Hensley, Mary Letterman and Iva Sowersby; one brother, Ira Skaggs; as well as her beloved dog, Mollie. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Wallace and husband, Larry, of Nixa; three sons, Norman Hutsell and David Dalby, of Rogersville; Benny Hutsell and wife, Donna, of Cabool; and Kevin Hutsell, of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Archie Skaggs; and many other relatives and friends that will miss her very much. Services for Bertha Hutsell were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church of Cabool, with Pastor John Emery and the Rev. Smiley Martin officiating. Special songs were “I Won’t Have To Worry Anymore,” “The Touch Of Mama’s Hand,” “He Holds Me Securely” and “That Sure Sounds Like Angels.” Darin Wallace, Jonathan Hutsell, Lance Johnson, Thomas Hutsell, Braden Wallace and Logan Wallace served as pallbearers.
