Arnold Leroy Parsons, Sr.,

Arnold Leroy Parsons, Sr., son of the late David and Pearlie (Hill) Parsons, was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Mountain Grove, and departed this life Oct. 11, 2024, in Doniphan. He was 80 years, 8 months and 20 days of age. Arnold grew up around the Mountain Grove area. He married Judy Volner and nine children were born to this union. Arnold loved spending time with his family and children. He also loved fishing, hunting, camping, barbequing, and doing things around his yard. Arnold had a big heart and would do anything for anyone, expecting nothing in return.
Besides his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Gene and Jim Ed; four sisters, Ruby, Barbara, Ruth Ann and Marry Lou; and a great-grandson, Harlow Parsons. Arnold is survived by his children, Arnold Leroy Parsons, Jr., Harold Wayne Parsons, Ricky Lynn Parsons (Sheila), all of Doniphan; Frederick Dean Parsons (Stacy), of Stroud, Okla.; Janice Faye Murray (Danny), of Doniphan; Patricia Borders (Mike Eugine), of Fairdealing; Judy Mae Thacker (Donald), of Hartville; Delcie Pearl Jackson (John), of Fairdealing; and Tonya Irene Parsons, of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Brenda Volner, of Hartville; four brothers, Junior Ray Parsons (Patt), of Columbia;Frankie Parsons (Phyllis), of Hartville; Davy Parsons, of Mountain Grove; Pete Parsons (Faye), of Mountain View; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him so very much. Visitation for Arnold Parsons will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Minister Michael Borders officiating.
Song selections will be “Daddy’s Hands,” “When I Get Where I’m Going,” “Grandpa Told Me So,” and “One Hell Of An Amen.” Daniel Murray, William Parsons, Tyler Parsons, Austin Borders, D.J. Snedeker, Ben Venn and Joshua Murray will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Murr Cemetery, Cabool, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
