Norwood Lady Pirates win Summit Conference title

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ basketball team after beating Gainesville to clinch an undefeated run through the Summit Conference to be crowned the conference champions.

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ basketball team is once again the Summit Conference champions after finishing an undefeated 7-0 run last week with their 53-27 victory in Gainesville against an 18-win Lady Bulldogs’ team.
Norwood opened the contest with a 20-point first quarter as Addy Gray hit three, 3-pointers for an 11-point edge.
The Lady Pirates followed with an 8-2 run before halftime as both Lydia Harden and Jayden Chambers scored three points.
Kalie Chadwell scored five points in the third quarter as the Lady Pirates pushed their lead to 26.
Norwood would hold on late for the 26-point victory.
Chadwell scored a team-high 15 points; Gray made four, 3-pointers for 12 points; Chambers had nine; Harden had eight; Gentry Davault seven; and Jaycee Hall two.
The Lady Pirates finished their regular season schedule with a dominating 70-42 victory over a 19-win Willow Springs team on the Lady Bears’ home court.
Norwood started the contest on a 22-7 run in the first quarter as Chadwell and Gray both scored eight points.
Up 13 at halftime, Chadwell helped her team pull away in the third quarter as she made three, 3-pointers for 13 points in a 24-point frame.
The Lady Pirates made 10, 3-pointers in the win as Chadwell made five of them for a team-hight 32 points; Gray made four, 3-pointers for 14; Davault and Harden each had eight; while Hall and Chambers each scored four points. Norwood is now 23-3 on the season.
