Lady Pirates cruise past Fordland

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ basketball team took one major step forward towars its goal of winning a Summit Conference championship this season after they hosted Fordland and picked up a 45-33 victory over a now 11-3 Lady Eagles’ team.
Norwood’s defense held an explosive Fordland offense to 11 points or less in all four quarters.
Meanwhile, the Lady Pirates’ offense was sluggish early, scoring just four points in the opening eight minutes.
Kalie Chadwell scored five points in the second quarter while Fordland was only able to put four points on the board as Norwood led 15-11 at halftime.
A 16-point third quarter was sparked by seven-point frames from both Gentry Davault and Autumn Gunter.
In the fourth, Chadwell added another five points while Davault also scored five points.
Davault led the Lady Pirates with 16 points; Chadwell scored 10 iopnts in the win; Gunter added seven; while Jayden Chambers, Quinncy Vestal and Addy Gray each sored four points.
The Lady Pirates are now 12-4 overall and will compete this week in the St. James Touranment at St. James.
