The Champion News

All the fun and enjoyment of the Champion School Reunion will show up here next week.
This week we can report that David and Bev Hutchison and Alfred and Clovis Brown paid a visit to the Historic Emporium on Wednesday where they met old schoolmates, kinfolks and friends. Kip Nunn had ventured all the way to Champion on his ATV and, while he and the Browns and Hutchisons did not initially recognize each other, they were reintroduced by The General and suddenly had an overflowing of memories to share. Some of them had to do with Punk Hicks and other local notables.
They met newcomers (folks who have only lived here 50 years or less) and enjoyed again the bucolic beauty of the Bright Side. They suggested that they might well make a Saturday trip out to the reunion. Find out next week. Meanwhile, Darla Beltz had seen a photo of the 1915 Champion School student body on The Champion News Facebook page and requested a copy.
Thomas Jefferson said, “I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.” With picnics, parties and parades we celebrate the hard-won achievements of America’s labor movement, and a recognition of what workers have contributed to the Nation’s prosperity. Champions—Looking on the Bright Side!
