The Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Mansfield recently hosted six cast members from the iconic television show, “Little House on the Prairie,” to formally cut a ribbon for the new garage building near the historic farmhouse.

The cast was visiting the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield and traveled over to Rocky Ridge Farm for the event.

The cast members participating in the ribbon cutting were Pamela Roylance (Sarah Carter), Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle), Jennifer Donati (Baby Rose Wilder), Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder), Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson) and Wendi Lou Lee (Baby Grace Ingalls).

The garage features a new exhibit of Almanzo Wilder’s farm tools and a history of the original garage and aspects of farm life on Rocky Ridge.

It was constructed by Wilder Association Board member Tim Hancock and his construction crew, and the exhibits were designed by Wilder Museum Curator Tana Redman.

“It was an honor to welcome the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ cast for a brief visit to Rocky Ridge,” said Museum Executive Director, the Rev. Nicholas Inman. “This is the largest number of cast members that we have hosted at one time, and we felt it was only appropriate to have them cut the ribbon to open this historic addition to the Wilder property…We really appreciated them taking the time out of their hectic schedule at the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival to travel to Mansfield to take this ribbon cutting picture for promotional use ahead of our official opening.” The Little House on the Prairie cast has been traveling across the country to promote the 50th anniversary of the classic television show.

Visitors can visit the new garage, which is included in the price of admission, Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30-4:30 p.m.
