Hartville beats West Plains in Republic’s Classic
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team won just one of their four contests in Republic’s Lead-Off Clasic featuring many larger schools.
Hartville’s big win came over West Plains as they had a five-run second inning in a 7-6 win over the Lady Zizzers.
Saige Petty had two RBIs; Maddie Brown had one RBI and one run scored; and McKenzi Stigall scored twice.
Petty tossed five innings and gave up no earned runs on three hits. Gensen Culver gave up four earned runs on three hits with two walks.
Their first loss was 11-0 to MccDonald County as the Lady Eagles’ defense made four errors.
Petty gave up four earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Culver tossed one inning and gave up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Hartville also lost to Republic, 8-0.
Petty gave up six earned runs on six hits in four innings with one walk.
Wheatland handed Hartville another loss after a five-run top of the ninth inning gave them a 10-5 win.
Haddie Ward had one RBI and one run scored; Culver had one RBI; and Addison Dudley scored twice.
Petty tossed eight and a third innings and gave up four earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Sarah Palmer tossed two-thirds of an inning and gave up one hit with one strikeout and one walk.
