Norwood softball splits two with good teams

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ softball team split a pair of contests last week against two teams with a combined 17-4 overall record.
Their big win came against Willow Springs as the Lady Pirates’ Jaycee Hall hit a walk-off double to score Jayden Chambers for the game-winning run in a 10-9 win over the Lady Bears.
She finished the game with three RBIs and one run scored.
Maddie Campbell had one RBI and scored twice; Chambers scored four runs; Addison Smith had one RBI and one run scored; Gentry Davault had one RBI; while Addy Gray and Reagan Bennett each scored one run for Norwood.
On the mound, Campbell gave up four earned runs on nine hits in seven innings and had 12 strikeouts and one walk.
One day after beating a now 6-2 Lady Bears team, the Lady Pirates fell to a now 11-2 Plato squad, 7-1.
The Lady Eagles scored four runs in the fifth to pull away for the win.
Campbell had one RBI and Mayci Calhoun scored one run in the loss.
On the mound, Campbell tossed six innings and gave up six earned runs on 11 hits with nine strikeouts and one walk.
