Lady Eagles’ softball keeps record above .500

The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team kept their record over the .500 mark last week after splitting a pair of contests.
They did pick up a 10-9 win over Marion C. Early on the road as Brielle Kline had the game-winning RBI in their final at-bat that scored McKenzi Stigall.
The Lady Panthers scored eight of their nine runs between the fifth and sixth innings.
Offensively, Kline led Hartville with five hits, three RBIs and three runs scored while Maddie Brown had two RBIs.
Peyton Dudley scored three times; Stigall scored twice; while Sarah Palmer had one RBI and one run scored.
Saige Petty tossed seven innings and gave up five earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and seven walks.
On Friday, Hartville fell to Crocker, 3-1.
Dudley had the lone RBI in the loss while Stigall scored the lone run.

Hartville enters this week’s Class 2, District 4 Tournament as the host and will play Dixon at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
With a win, the Nor. 4 seed would take on No. 1 seed Holden (17-10) at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. The championship game will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Other teams in the district include New Covenant Academy with Greenwood, Iberia and Sherwood.
The Lady Eagles’ overall record is 11-10 on the season.
