Lady Pirates complete season sweep of Hartville

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ softball team completed a season sweep over Wright County rival Hartville last week after a walk-off victory over the Lady Eagles.
Entering their final at-bat down 4-3, Addison Smith’s one-out double scored Maddie Campbell to tie the game.
A single and a hit-by-pitch were then followed by Gentry Davault’s RBI double to score Smith for the game-winning run.
Davault finished the game with a pair of hits and an RBI; Campbell had one RBI and two runs scored; Smith had one RBI and one run scored; and Lydia Harden added one RBI.
Campbell tossed seven innings and gave up no earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
Both Gensen Culver and McKenzi Stigall led Hartville with one RBI and one run scored. Haddie Ward and Maddie Brown each scored one run.
Saige Petty tossed six and a third innings and allowed four earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
At the end of the week, the Lady Eagles traveled to Van Buren and lost, 9-8, as the Lady Bulldogs had their own walk-off win, scoring on a two-out error in the bottom of the 12th inning.
Campbell had a big day at the plate, finishing with three hits, three RBIs and one run scored.
Norwood’s Addy Gray had two RBIs and one run scored; Jaycee Hall had two RBIs; Jayden Chambers tallied one RBI and scored three times; while Mayci Calhoun, Harden and Smith each scored one run.
Campbell tossed 11 and two-thirds innings and allowed three earned runs on 13 hits with 15 strikeouts and three walks for the Lady Pirates.
