Take me out to the ballgame at Mayberry Field on July 26

For so many Americans, there are three seasons - fall, winter, and baseball! In honor of this great game, the Mountain Grove Heritage Festival is sponsoring a super alumni baseball day scheduled for Saturday, July 26 at 10 a.m. with a rain date set for the following Saturday.
The three teams playing at Mayberry field will be players from the Mountain Grove High School 2016 State Championship team, MGHS alumni baseball players from any other years and the third squad is the 2025-26 MGHS Panther team.
There will be two games of five innings each with the winning team from the first game taking on the third team.
There will also be a home run hitting contest between the games. The Heritage Festival committee wishes to thank Marty Brown, Shane Coffman and Coach Jeff Richardson for organizing this event.
More work is happening to put this all together to help us pay homage to our Mountain Grove baseball heritage and history.

In the movie” Field of Dreams” the character of Shoeless Joe Jackson played by Ray Liotta is trying to portray his love of baseball to Ray Kinsella played by Kevin Costner. Shoeless Joe Jackson: “Man, did I love this game! … It was the game… the sounds, the smells. (pauses as he looks down at his hands and then up at Ray) Did you ever hold a ball or glove to your face…”  Ray Kinsella smiles: “Yeah.”
And yes, nearly every kid has buried his face in his glove and breathed deeply. It is a fragrance so loved that it is used in men’s cologne -worn leather.
