Chambers, Bradshaw advance
Norwood’s track and field team had two athletes qualify for this week’s Class 1 State Championships after their stand-out performance in the Class 1, Sectional `1 meet held in Hillsboro.
Jayden Chambers led the Lady Pirates by winning the 400 meters sectional title with her first place time of 1:00.79. She was also third place in the 1,600 meters, qualifying for state with a time of 5:41.25. Chambers added a sixth place time of 14:15.08 in the 3,200 meters.
Meanwhile, Kalie Chadwell was fifth in the 100 (13.80), sixth in the 200 (28.68) and sixth in the 400 (1:07.84).
As a team, the Lady Pirates had 29 points for 10th place overall.
Gunner Bradshaw was the lone Pirate to advance to state after he won the sectional championship in the high jump by clearing 2.07 meters.
He added a fifth place finish in the long jump (6.02 meters).
Bradshaw helped the Pirates finish 18th in the team standings.
