Mountain Grove track sweeps SCA team titles

Both the Mountain Grove boys and girls track and field athletes celebrate after they both won the South Central Association (SCA) Conference championship last week.

The Mountain Grove boys and girls track and field teams swept the South Central Association (SCA) Conference titles last week on their home track after dominating their way to championships.
For the first time in a decade, the Panthers won the team SCA championship after dominating second place Salem by more than 50 points with 184.5.
Aden Estep won the SCA crown in the prestigious 100 meters race with his first place time of 11.31 seconds. He was also second in both the 200 (23.68) and 400 (51.73). Estep was also fourth in the long jump (5.93 meters).
Also in the sprints, Cooper Hoerning was fifth in the 100 (11.83) and sixth in the 200 (24.50). In field events, Hoerning was second in the triple jump (12.67 meters).
Aydon Barbe finished fourth in the 400 (53.41).
In distance races, Hunter Bartlett won the SCA title in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.57. He was second in the 1,600 (4:51.46) and fifth in the 3,200 (11:15.45).
Skyler Oliphant was second in the 800 (2:11.49), second in the 3,200 (10:52.58) and third in the 1,600 (4:51.48).
JP Dickey was third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.59) while Ethan Haacke was fourth (19.02). Dickey then took third in the 300-meter hurdles (42.58) with Beau Nelson placing eighth (46.20). Dickey added a seventh place finish in the high jump (1.62 meters).
As for the relay races, the 4x800 won the SCA title with a time of 9:04.73. The 4x100 (45.83) and the 4x200 (1:35.08) were both in second place.
Andrew Whitson won the SCA crown in the discus event with his toss of 41.04 meters.
Malaki Williams won the SCA title in the shot put with a toss of 13.92 meters. Payton Metty finished third (13.12 meters).
Nelson was second (3.73 meters) and Clayton Maloney was fourth (3.43 meters) in the pole vault.
Braydon Curtiss was sixth in the javelin (35.61 meters).
Haacke was eighth in the triple jump (11.07 meters) and eighth in the javelin (33.91 meters).
The Lady Panthers won their fourth SCA crown in a row after holding off second place Houston with 193.5 team points.
Raylee Stenzel won a trifecta of individual SCA titles as she was first in the 100 (13.17), first in the 200 (26.92) and first in the 400 (1:00.68). She was also seventh in the high jump (1.37 meters).
Savanna Hellbusch was third in the 100 (13.33) and fourth in the 200 (28.52).
Lilly Hines won the SCA title with a first place time in the 100-meter hurdles (17.89). She was also third in the 300-meter hurdles (50.49). Hines was also fourth (2.36 meters) and Hannah Robertson was eighth (1.9 meters) in the pole vault.
Keena Roth won the SCA crown in the 3,200 with a time of 13:10.33 while Nyelli Soto was second (13:21.46).
Keena was second (5:52.15) and Soto was third (5:55.10) in the 1,600.
Makynli Blackwell was second (2:44.87) and Hadley Driskill was fifth (2:56.31) in the 800.
As for relays, the 4x200 (1:54.63) and the 4x400 (4:36.77) both won SCA titles. Finishing second were the 4x100 (54.76) and the 4x800 (10:50.07).
In field events, Santana Schwertfeger won the long jump with a leap of 4.82 meters. She was also fourth in the triple jump (9.73 meters).
Sadie Schober picked up several team points as she was sixth in the triple jump (9.48 meters), sixth in the javelin (24.98 meters) and eighth in the long jump (4.09 meters). She added a fifth place finish in the 400 (1:11.53).
Rowen Kelly was fifth in the high jump (1.37 meters).
Zoey Criner finished second in the discus (25.98 meters), sixth in the shot put (7.85 meters) and seventh in the javelin (22.04 meters).
Arlexis Bibens was fifth place in the discus (22.44 meters) and seventh place in the shot put (7.71 meters).
