Mansfield baseball outscores two teams, 41-12

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team outscored a pair of opponents, 41-12, as they won two of three contests last week.
The Lions scored 10 runs in the first and 17 in the second in a 27-0 thrashing of Chadwick with the help of a 16-hit attack.
Fifteen different players had either an RBI or scored a run in the win for the Lions.
Charlie Grubbs led the way with four RBIs and three runs scored; John Roberts had two RBIs and scored four runs; Bryston Kingery and Aiden Garrison had one RBI and scored three times; Oliver Henry scored three times; Easton Thompson Had two RBIs and scored one run; Brayden Stuart added two RBIs and scored twice; Parker Moody and Owen Schofield had two RBIs; Braden Tate and Brent Stuart each had one RBI and scored one run; Fisher Croney had one RBI and scored twice; while Cole Whorton and Emery Downs each scored one run.
Croney tossed three scoreless innings and gave up two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Against New Covenant, the Lions scored at least two runs in five different innings before holding in for a 14-12 victory with the help of 16 hits.
Blake Henry had four hits, two RBIs and three runs scored; Tate had three RBIs and one run scored; Kingery added two RBIs and scored three times; Roberts had two RBIs and scored three times with three hits; Whorton had one RBI and one run scored; Moody and Garrison each had one RBI; while Downs, Grubbs and Croney each scored one run.
Brayden Stuart tossed three and two-thirds innings and gave up four earned runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Kingery lasted three and a third innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
On Monday, the Lions dropped a tough contest to Seymour, 6-2, that has Summit Conference implications.
It was a 2-2 game through four innings before the Tigers scored two runs in both the fifth and seventh innings.
Grubbs had two RBIs and Tate scored one run.
Grubbs tossed two innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits with one strikeout. Garrison tossed two and two-thirds innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout. Croney tossed two and a third innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and two walks.
