Hartville Eagles fall in Purdy finals
The Hartville Eagles’ baseball team advanced to the finals of the Purdy Tournament before falling last week in the championship game, 3-2, in extra innings.
In the bottom of the 12th, Purdy played some small ball with a bunt that led to an errant throw and the game-winning run after a classic between the two programs.
It was a 1-1 game before needing extra innings in the championship contest.
Truett Coryell tossed six and two-thirds innings of shutout ball, giving up three hits with 12 strikeouts and four walks. Brodyn Hulsey tossed four and a third innings and gave up one earned run on five hits with two strikeouts.
Offensively, Gus Sinning had three hits, one RBI and one run scored while Hulsey added one RBI. Gavin Stigall did score one run.
