Wright County archers compete in area tournaments

Several Norwood and Mountain Grove archers take shots in the Mountain Grove 3D tournament two weeks ago.

Archers throughout Wright County achieved success at tournaments held during the past two weeks.
Mountain Grove
Mountain Grove hosted both a bullseye tournament and 3D tournament two weeks ago.
In the bullseye event, Hayden Akers was second place out of 124 archers with his 286. Other state-qualifying scores came from Chloe Slagle (274), Sawyer Kidd (273), Kyler Kumpula (270), Mason Rodgers (270), Taylor Garner (269), Chayden Wadkins (269) and Slade Rodgers (268).
Other scores over 250 came from Kandi Alessi (262), Kai English (261), Dayden Hensley (256), Ashley McGowan (254) and Skip Thompson (251).
As for the 3D tournament, Akers shot a 288 to take first place out of 81 archers. Other top scores came from Kidd (268), Kumpula (267), Slade Rodgers (262), Slagle (261), Mason Rodgers (261), Kai English (260), Garner (257), Josiah Schott (257) and McGowan (255).
In Laquey this past weekend, Akers shot a 290 to lead the Panthers in the bullseye tournament. Slagle and Schott both shot a 270 to also qualify for state in the event. Other top scores came from Kandi Alessi (264), Mason Rodgers (263), Wadkins (262), Damien LaFranchise (261), Slade Rodgers (259), Olivia English (259), Kareena Alessi (258), Seth Locke (258), Kai English (257) and Dayden Hensley (255).
In the 3D tournament, Akeers shot a 289 for the best score in the event.
Kumpula (278) and Slagle (276) each added scores over 270.
Other top scores came from Mason Rodgers (264), Olivia English (262), Kandi Alessi (260), Slade Rodgers (258), Haylena Emery (257) and Gage Yarger (255).
Norwood
In Mountain Grove’s bullseye tournament two weeks ago, Norwood’s Jacob Brixey had the third best score out of 124 archers with a 285.
Taylor Greenfield was the first place archer out of 79 girls archers with her 283.
MacieMae Pridemore added a 278 and Chanse Sanders shot a 275.
Other top scores for the first place team came from Elizabeth Hinote (269), Dinasha Griffin (268), Christopher Allen (264), Cloe Bradshaw (264), Lane Watkins (262), Trenton Carmon (260), Bradly Allen (258) and Spencer Perl (252).
In the 3D tournament, Taylor Greenfield shot a 289 for first place out of 42 archers and Pridemore was second with a 285 with Hinote being in third (285).
Brixey was fourth place among the boys with his 278.
Other top scores came from Bradshaw (278), Sanders (270), Perl (269), Christopher Allen (267), Carmon (262), Myles Phillips (262), Watkins (262), Griffin (261) and Bradly Allen (254).
In the Conway Monday Night Flights event, Perl shot a 267 and Sanders shot a 264.
In the Laquey bullseye event, Hinote had the best girls score with a 284.
Conner Jonas added a 283 for the fourth best boys score. Other solid scores came from Sanders (283), Pridemore (281), Brixey (280), Taylor Greenfield (274), Carmon (269), Bradly Allen (268), Bradshaw (265), Christopher Allen (259), Perl (258), Griffin (258), Phillips (255), Lane Watkins (254) and Joseph Hastings (251).
Mansfield
Back on Feb. 8, Mansfield’s archery team competed in just the bullseye tournament in Mountain Grove. Colton Wilson had the best score for the squad with a 249 while Darren Connors shot a 246.
Mansfield’s Junior High team was led by Braxton Dugger (256) and Cache Holyoak (247).
In Lebanon one week later, Wilson qualified for state with a 272 in the bullseye tournament. He had the third best score out of 46 total archers.
Payton Caswell was second on the team with a 254.
In Lebanon,, Holyoak led the way with a 256. Kaylee Kidd added a 242.
Manes
In Mountain Grove’s 3D tournament two weeks ago, Layne O’Neal shot a 275 for the fifth best score out of 81 archers. Zane Altobello added a 257.
In the bullseye tournament, O’Neal qualified for state with a 274, which was the sixth best score out of 124 archers. Olivia Akers was second on the team with a 241.
In Lebanon, O’Neal was first place out of 46 archers with a 278. Jaxon Ferrebee added a 255 and Braidyn Osborne shot a 254.
Skyline R-II
In the bullseye tournament at Mountain Grove two weeks ago, both Paige Jonas and Railynn Dixon shot a 252.
As for 3D, Jonas led the team with a 251. Chase Cauthron was second on the squad with a 244.
