Wright County Journal wins national award

The Wright County Journal was the recipient of a top three in the nation award in the 2025 Better Newspaper Contest for the National Newspaper Association. The honor was officially recognized during the NNA Foundation’s 139th Annual Convention and Trade Show held in Minneapolis, Minn. Oct. 9-10.
Their classified section received a third-place honor in a category featuring both daily and non-daily newspapers from across the country.
This means the Wright County Area Classifieds page is the third best in the nation.
First place honors went to The Taos, a New Mexico publication, while second place was awarded to the Leelanau Enterprise, from Lake Leelanau, Mich. A judge said, “I like that you had color on your classifieds; makes them pop.”
“It is always a special honor to have the publication recognized in a national contest as it is not easy to win a top three in the nation award,” said Ron Schott, owner/publisher of the Wright County Journal. “Our classified page has been helping businesses and readers in reaching their help wanted and for sale/for rent goals for some time. My thanks go to God for allowing the publication to be blessed in receiving this award.”
