Lady Panthers’ softball team has season end in districts

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ softball season came to an end last week in the first round of the Class 2, District 4 tournament that they hosted.
The Lady Panthers led 7-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning as the Lady Bears were the home team being the higher seed.
Then, Willow Springs put five runs on the board to tie the game before adding three more runs in the sixth for a 10-8 win.
Landry Golden hit a home run and had two RBIs and three runs scored. Lyla Golden had three RBIs; Chloe Slagle hit a solo home run for one RBI and one run scored; and both Sophee Peterson and Aubrey Owens had one RBI.
With Mountain Grove’s defense making six errors, pitcher Hannah Dowden was only charged with one earned run and four hits with six strikeouts and four walks.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Panthers crushed Mansfield, 17-2.
Dowden tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up two hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
Landry Golden hit a home run and had two RBIs and scored one run; both Stella Benson and Makenzi Schober had two RBIs and scored three times; Lyla Golden had one RBI and scored twice; while Peterson scored twice.
Mansfield’s Kayley Kingery had her team’s two RBIs while both Laikyn Ball and Madisyn Bennett scored one run.
The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers finished the season with a 12-7 overall record.
