Gerla gets 1,500th assist in Lady Panthers’ three set win over Salem

Mountain Grove’s Aubrie Gerla was presented a volleyball recognizing her for 1,500 career assists during the Lady Panthers’ Senior Night against Salem. She is joined by her father, Superintendent Dr. Aaron Gerla, and mom, Aimee Gerla.
Mountain Grove’s volleyball team ended a three match skid last week when they hosted Salem on Senior Night and defeated the Lady Tigers for a 3-0 victory.
The Lady Panthers won 25-20, 27-25 and 25-15 on Pink Out Night.
During the win, setter Aubrie Gerla was recognized for her 1,500th career assist and was presented a special volleyball.
Two nights earlier, the Lady Panthers traveled to Willow Springs and took on a now 19-win Lady Bears program and gave them a fight.
Unfortunately, Mountain Grove lost in five sets, 3-2.
They lost the first set 25-19, and won the second set 25-23.
After dropping the third set, 26-24, they rallied for a 25-20 win in the fourth set.
Willow Springs would hold on in the fifth set, 15-13.
Against Clever, the Lady Panthers won the second set, 25-21, in a 3-1 loss to the Lady Bluejays.
The fell 25-14 in the first set, 25-20 in the third and 25-12 in the fourth.
They host the Class 3, District 11 Tournament this week.
If they can beat Houston just after press time, they would face No. 1 seed Hollister at 5 p.m. on Oct. 23. The championship match is set for 1 p.m. on Oct. 25.
