Mansfield Lions drop two of three contests
After starting the season with a solid win over Willow Springs, the Mansfield Lions’ baseball team two of their three games a week ago.
Their big win was a 15-4 crushing of Liberty (Mountain View).
The Lions scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull away for good.
Parker Moody had a big day with two hits and four RBIs; Blake Henry had three RBIs and scored twice; Bryston Kingery had two RBIs and two runs scored; Braden Tate added one RBI and scored three times; Cole Whorton had one RBI and one run scored; Fisher Croney scored three times; and Charlie Grubbs had one RBI.
On the mound, Kingery tossed two and a third innings and gave up three earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Aiden Garrison was credited with the win after tossing two and two-thirds scoreless innings and giving up two hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
On the road in Thayer, they lost a nailbiter, 6-5, as the Bobcats scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Tate had two RBIs and one run scored; both Grubbs and Henry had one RBI and scored one run; while Whorton and Croney each scored one run.
Brayden Stuart tossed five innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Grubbs tossed a scoreless inning and struck out two with one walk.
Mansfield ended the week with a 5-2 loss to Central. Tate and Garrison each had one RBI while both Grubbs and Croney scored one run.
