Lions outscore two opponents, 26-9, in pair of big victories

The Mansfield Lions’ baseball team split their four contests last week.
In their two wins, they outscored a pair of opponents, 26-9.
Against Spokane, the Lions scored 13 runs in the top of the fifth inning to beat the Owls, 15-2.
Blake Henry hit a solo home run as he had two RBIs and scored three times.
Pete Moody had three RBIs; Charlie Grubbs had two RBIs and scored two runs; John Roberts had two RBIs and scored one run; Bryston Kingery had one RBI and scored two runs; while Fisher Croney, Aiden Garrison and Braden Tate had one RBI and scored one run.
The Lions also had an 11-7 win over Buffalo.
Henry had two RBIs and scored two runs; Grubbs had two RBIs and one run scored; Brayden Stuart had one RBI and scored twice; Tate and Roberts added one RBI and one run scored; while Kingery had one RBI.
Tate tossed three and two-thirds innings and gave up five earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Kingery tossed two and a third scoreless innings and gave up two hits and two walks.
The Lions did have a loss to Halfway, 9-7, as Mansfield’s four-run top of the fifth inning was too late in the rally.
Roberts had three hits, three RBIs and one run scored; Garrison had two RBIs; and Tate had three hits and scored twice.
Stuart tossed three and a third innings and gave up one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Cole Whorton tossed one and a third innings and gave up no earned runs on two hits with one strikeout. Croney tossed a third of an inning and gave up one earned run on two this with three walks.
