The Mountain Grove Lions Club had their first meeting of 2025 on Jan. 9.
Long time Lions Club Member Ray Richey was recognized for his service to the club and community with the Melvin Jones Award. The award was presented to him by Phil Krebs, IPDG. Congratulations to Ray.
Soap Box Derby forms have been sent to the local and surrounding schools. If anyone is interested in mentoring a young person to build a Soap Car for the race, please contact Lion Robert MacLoed, 870-371-1458 .
Eyeglasses donated in the last month were 101 pairs. Lion Dee Lewis, who is in charge of the Eyeglass Donation Project, does a wonderful job of getting the eyeglasses packed and sent to the area donation location. If you have any eyeglasses that are no longer needed, the Lions Club would appreciate it if you would donate them.. A drop-off box is located in the parking lot of Dollar Plus Store on North Main St., next to Burger King.
Lions Brenda Clark, Carmen McCarty and Robert MacLeod completed hearing tests for the third grade at the Mountain Grove Elementary School in December. They will be scheduling hearing tests for the surrendering schools in February.
Lion Kay Woodruff was awarded a Lions Club pen for recruiting the most new members to the Lions Club for Year 2024. The Lions Club is very blessed to have Lion Kay as a member.
The International Lions Club recognized the Mountain Grove Lions Club a Membership Satisfaction Award and a patch for the Lions Club Banner.
The next meeting of the Lions Club will be Feb. 13 at noon at MO EATS on East 20th St. If you are interested in joining the club, please attend.
