Lady Eagles’ softball has won four of past six
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team has now won four of their past six games as they inch closer to the postseason.
On Monday, they picked up a solid 2-0 win over a good Halfway team.
Saige Petty tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up seven hits with nine strikeouts.
She also had one RBI for the offense while both Brielle Kline and Sarah Palmer scored one run for the Lady Eagles.
Hartville also picked up a 14-8 win over Stoutland last week after scoring eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete a rally.
Palmer hit a three-run home run as she finished the day with three hits, five RBIs and three runs scored.
Peyton Dudley had two RBIs and three runs scored; Gensen Culver and Kline each added one RBI and two runs scored; McKenzi Stigall, Haddie Ward and Dani Flachsmann had one RBI and one run scored; and Petty added one RBI to help her cause.
On the mound, Petty tossed seven innings and allowed six earned runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts with just one walk.
They did have a loss against a now 16-win New Covenant Academy squad, 10-1, as the defense committed seven errors.
Petty tossed three and two-thirds innings and gave up five earned runs on nine hits with one walk.
Palmer tossed a third of an inning and gave up two earned runs, one strikeout and had two walks.
Palmer had the team’s lone RBI while Stigall scored the lone run.
Hartville’s record is now 10-9 on the season.
