Lady Eagles’ record sits at 8-1

Though the Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team lost their first Summit Conference game of the season last week, they picked up a pair of other victories to improve their record to 8-1 overall.
They picked up a conference win over Gainesville, 11-6, after scoring two runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings. They added four in the first as the Lady Eagles’ offense had a 17-hit attack.
Sarah Palmer had a huge game with four hits, five RBIs and three runs scored; Saige Petty had three hits and three RBIs; Claire Dickinson had two RBIs; Brielle Kline added one RBI and scored three times; McKenzi Stigall scored twice; while Katia Todd, Peyton Dudley and Haddie Ward scored one run.
Petty tossed seven innings and allowed two earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
On Thursday, the Lady Eagles crushed Lighthouse Christian, 12-0.
Todd had four RBIs two runs scored; Dickinson had two RBIs and scored one run; Palmer had one RBI and scored twice; Stigall scored twice; Maddie Brown had one RBI and scored one run; while Ward, Dudley and Kline each scored one run.
Petty tossed five shutout innings and gave up one hit with five strikeouts and five walks.
Hartville’s first loss came in Sparta after a six-run third inning doomed the Lady Eagles in an 8-6 loss.
Ward scored two RBIs; Dudley, Palmer and Kline each had one RBI and one run scored; while Todd, Petty and Brown each scored one run.
Petty tossed four and a third innings, giving up five earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and six walks.
Palmer tossed one and two-thirds innings and gave up two earned runs with one strikeout and five walks.
