Hartville softball finishes Summit play with 6-1 record
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team kept their Summit Conference championship hopes alive last week after outscoring two teams, 43-7, to finish the Summit with a 6-1 record.
Their lone loss came to Sparta, who still has conference games remaining on their schedule while the Lady Eagles are now 10-1 overall this spring.
Against Conway, Hartville crushed the Lady Bears, 25-0.
Saige Petty had a big game with six RBIs and one run scored.
Katia Todd had four RBIs and three runs scored; Peyton Dudley added three RBIs and three runs scored; both McKenzi Stigall and Brielle Kline had two RBIs and scored four times; Sarah Palmer had one RBI and scored four times; Haddie Ward had two RBIs and two runs scored; Claire Dickinson and Cara Dugger had two RBIs and one run scored; and Maddie Brown had one RBI and scored twice.
Petty tossed three scoreless innings and gave up one hit with six strikeouts and two walks.
Two days later, the Lady Eagles traveled to Seymour and lost, 18-7.
Palmer had three RBIs and scored one run; Petty had three RBIs; Dudley had two RBIs and one run scored; Todd had one RBI and scored four times; while Stigall, Brown and Ward added one RBI and scored three times.
Petty tossed seven innings and gave up five earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
