Hartville Lady Eagles win consolations in Stoutland

The Hartville Lady Eagles’ basketball team won the Consolation title in the Lady Tigers Tournament held in Stoutland last week.
In the Consolation finals against Belle, a 23-11 run in the first half helped Hartville pull away for a 45-27 to leave the tournament with some hardware.
Kinley Cryer made two 3-pointers and Katia Todd scored seven points in a 16-point first quarter to take a 10-point lead.
Molly Brown scored five of her team’s seven points in the second quarter to go up 12 at the break.
Brown would go on to score six points in each of the final two quarters to help Hartville in the win.
Brown scored a team-high 19 points; Cryer added 11; Todd scored nine points; and Sarah Palmer had six points.
In the consolation semifinals, the Lady Eagles cruised past Maranatha Baptist, 59-25.
Todd scored 10 points and Cryer added three, 3-pointers in a 23-point first quarter as the Lady Eagles never looked back in the big win.
Brown scored 11 points in a 19-point second frame to give her team a 30-point lead at halftime.
She would go on to lead the team with 18 points; Todd finished the contest with 16 points; Cryer added 15; Saige Petty scored four points; both Carlyn Cantrell and Palmer scored two points; and Brielle Kline added one point.
In the opening round, the Lady Eagles took on the host team from Stoutland and lost, 54-43.
Cryer scored 12 points in the first half, with seven of those points coming in an 18-point second quarter, putting her team up 29-25 at halftime.
Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers outscored Hartville, 17-8, in the third quarter and held on late for the win.
Cryer finished with a team-high 18 points; Brown had 14; Todd scored five; and both Cantrell and Palmer added three points.
Hartville is the No. 1 seed in the Cabool Invitational Tournament held Jan. 20-24 as they hope to be the sixth Wright County team to win a tournament title this season.
