Hartville Lady Eagles pick up win over Plato

Before the recent Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament, the Hartville Lady Eagles’ basketball team won their second game in a row after defeating Plato, 59-38.
Hartville scored 19 points in the opening quarter behind the sharp shooting of Kinley Cryer. Cryer made three 3-pointers and scored 13 points.
In the second quarter, Hartville kept Plato in the game by making just 3-of-8 free throw attempts.
Katia Todd and Maddie Brown both finished with four points to give Hartville a 32-18 halftime edge.
Cryer hit a 3-pointer and scored seven more points while Brown added a 3-pointer of her own and scored five points during a 16-point third quarter.
Cryer and Brown both added four more points in the final frame to lift the Lady Eagles to a home victory.
Cryer made four 3-pointers in the victory and finished with a team-high 27 points.
Brown added 15 points; Todd scored 10 points; Carlyn Cantrell had five points; while Sarah Palmer scored two points.
Early in the 11th Annual Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament, the Lady Eagles first fell to Alton, 51-39.
They followed that loss by crushing Houston three days later, 61-37.
