Hartville Eagles win Summit Conference

The Hartville Eagles’ basketball team continues to sit alone at the top of the Summit Conference after completing an undefeated 7-0 run last Tuesday when they defeated Gainesville, 73-53.
The two-point victory clinched for them yet another Summit Conference championship just one week before entering the Class 2, District 10 Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Hartville opened the game with the Bulldogs on a 21-10 run as Boone Garrison scored six points.
After making  three, 3-pointers in the opening frame, they made five more before halftime to go up 14. Both Jordan O’Quinn and Hayden Johns hit a pair of 3-pointers in the frame.
Gus Sinning scored eight points and Truett Coryell added another two, 3-pointers during a 20-point third quarter.
The Bulldogs scored 19 points in the fourth, but their rally fell way short.
Johns led the Eagles with 20 points; Gus Sinning had 15; Garrison had 13; Coryell made four, 3-pointers for 12 points; O’Quinn added nine; and Brock Jones had four points. The Eagles are 21-4 on the season entering district play.
